"Ondoy" left many death and missing person (GMA News)

"Ondoy" left many death and missing person...
The total number of fatalities from “Ondoy" that submerged some areas in Central Luzon and Calabarzon in mud and water may already be more than 200. But the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) has placed the death toll at 140 as of 4 p.m. Monday, pending reports from local government units.

Ninety-six were killed in Region IV-A or the Calabarzon area; 36 died in Region III or in Central Luzon; seven in National Capital Region and one in the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The number of missing individuals remained at 32. Five people were injured during the height of the storm. A total of 90,223 families were affected or 453,033 people in 398 barangays..
.But reports from local government units (LGUs) and volunteer groups showed that the number of fatalities, could be higher as more flooded areas have been reached by rescuers and relatives of victims.

In Rizal province alone, 82 deaths were recorded, according to radio reports quoting Gov. Casimiro Ynares, Sunday evening. A separate counting by the Parish Pastoral Council claimed that 36 people died in Brgy. Silangan in Quezon City. But the Quezon City police said 45 bodies had been found.

In Marikina City, at least 58 were killed, according to reports reaching Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr.

In Antipolo City, 22 people died, while four went missing. City mayor Danilo Leyble told radio dzBB Monday afternoon that he received the report about the casualties at 10 a.m., adding that eight of the 22 fatalities were from Barangay (village) San Jose, while the rest were from barangays Dela Paz, Sta. Cruz, and Cupang.

In Bulacan province, at east 23 people died and two others went missing, Liz Mungcal, executive officer of the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Management Council, told GMANews.TV at 3 p.m., Monday.

She said only the towns of Pandi and San Ildefonso were spared by the storm. The rest - 19 municipalities and three cities covering 209 barangays (villages) - were badly hit by Ondoy, affecting 63,962 families or 252,979 people.

In Laguna province, Ernesto Montencillo, provincial social welfare officer told GMANews.TV that eight had died as of 1 p.m., Monday. There were 72,170 families or 310,593 people affected by the storm in 19 municipalities covering 150 barangays (villages).

Anomalous

Ondoy brought rains that weather specialists described as “anomalous." While it did not develop into a typhoon, Ondoy brought rains of 341 millimeters (mm) in the first six hours that it struck Metropolitan Manila on Saturday, breaking the highest 24-hour rainfall of 334 mm in Metropolitan Manila in June 1967, according to the Philippines’ weather forecasting bureau.

The Philippines’ maximum annual rainfall is only 4,064 mm or 338.6 per month or 11.3 mm per day. Ondoy’s 341-mm of rain in six hours was equivalent to more than 30 days of rainfall.

In its latest report, the NDCC also said that damage in property caused by Ondoy was worth P1.4 billion, including 204 houses totally destroyed, and 354 houses partially destroyed.

Two more weather disturbances?

Still reeling from Ondoy's wrath, state weather forecasters said on Monday that the country could be hit by two other tropical depressions later this week.

Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa)'s forecaster Connie Dadivas said the two weather disturbances might enter Philippine territory late Wednesday or Thursday.

But another Pagasa forecaster Joel Jesusa, said the two low pressure areas (LPA) were still far away to affect any part of the country for now.

"Malayo pa po, sobrang layo pa ang binabanggit nating dalawang LPA, 1,000 km pa ito (The two LPAs are still too far away, they are about 1,000 km away)," he said on dzXL radio. He added that the two LPAs were moving west-northwest as of Monday.

Earlier in the day, Pagasa said Ondoy continued to move farther away from the country, moving toward Vietnam.

-John Macarthur

If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us… If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and we do not accept God's teaching.”

1 John 1:8, 10 (NCV)

For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” Rom 7:15-18

Joe Wright Prayer

When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this prayer is what they heard.
The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India, Africa, and Korea.

Copy of his prayer.

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to ask Your Forgiveness
And seek Your direction and guidance.
We know Your Word says, ''Woe to those who call evil good,''
But that's exactly what we have done.
We have lost our Spiritual equilibrium and inverted our values.
We confess that;
we have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it pluralism;
We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism;
We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle;
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery;
We have neglected the needy and called it self preservation;
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare;
We have killed our unborn and called it choice;
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable;
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem;
We have abused power and called it political savvy;
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition;
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression;
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, O God, and know our hearts today;
Try us and see if there be some wicked way in us;
Cleanse us from every sin and set us free...

The Battleship And The Lighthouse

The Battleship And The Lighthouse - Christian Illustrations for YOUTH TALKS...

In the darkest part of the night, a ship’s captain cautiously piloted his warship through the fog-shrouded waters. With straining eyes, he scanned the hazy darkness, searching for dangers lurking just out if sight. His worst fears were realized when he saw a bright light straight ahead. It appeared to be a vessel on a collision course with his ship,
To avert disaster he quickly radioed the oncoming vessel. “This is Captain Jeremiah Smith,” his voiced crackled over the radio.
“Please alter your course ten degrees south! Over.”
To the captain’s amazement, the foggy image did not move. Instead, he heard back on the radio, “Captain Smith. This is Private Thomas Johnson. Please alter your course ten degrees north! Over.”
Appalled at the audacity of the message, the captain shouted back over the radio, “Private Johnson, this is Captain Smith, and I order you to immediately alter your course ten degrees south!
Over.”
A Second time the oncoming light did not budge. “With all due respect, Captain Smith.” came the private voice again, “I order you to alter your course immediately ten degrees north! Over.” Ger the lives of men and crew, the captain growled back over the radio, “Private Johnson. I can have you Court-martialed for this! For the last time, I command you on the authority of the United States government to alter your course ten degrees to the south! I am a Battleship!”
The Private’s final transmission was chilling “Captain Smith, Sir. Once again, with all due respect, I command you to alter your course ten degrees to the north! I am a light house!”

Application:
Many of us in today’s world have little respect for authority. We operate as if rules can be (or should be) changed to fit our personal needs and desires. Commercials egg us on: have it your way.” In reality, we cannot always have it our way. We have to conform our lives to a higher truth, a higher authority—the Word of God…
God’s Truth is like lighthouse. It is not going to change to accommodate us. We are the ones who must change to conform our lives to what God wants for us.
Jesus is also like a lighthouse. The Bible teaches, “JESUS CHRIST is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Heb. 13:8). He will always be there for us. HE is absolutely dependable. We Christians must conform our lives to His will for us. If we tell us to alter our courses, we have no choice but to obey. That is what being a disciple is all about.

The bee Sting (Christian Illustrations for YOUTH TALKS)

The bee Sting

A vacationing family drives along in their car, windows rolled down, enjoying the warm breeze of the sunny day. All of a sudden, a big enjoying the warm breeze of the sunny days. All of the sudden, a big black bee darts in the window and starts buzzing around inside the car. A little girl, highly allergic to bee stings, cringes in the backseat. If she is stung, she could die within an hour.
Oh, Daddy, “she squeals in terror. “ It’s going to sting me!” the father pull the car over to a stop, and reaches back to try to catch the bee. Buzzing around toward him, the bee bumps against the front windshield where the father traps it in his fist.
Holding in his closed hand, the father waits for the inevitable sting. The bee stings the father’s hand and in pain, the father lets go of the bee. The father lets go of the bee. The bee is loose in the car again. The little girl again panic, “Daddy, it’s Going to sting me!” The father gently says, “No honey, he’s not going to sting you now. Look at my hand.” The bee’s stinger is the there in his hand.

Application:Paul exalted in I Corinthians 15:55, “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death is your sting?” Jesus says to us, “look at my hands,” He has Satan’s sting of death, the sting of sin, the sting of deceit the sting of feeling worthless. Jesus has all of those stingers in His hands. When you see the nail-scarred hand, realize that, on your behalf, Jesus took all the pain that could throw at Him. He reduced Satan a big black that’s lost its stinger—all Satan’s can do is buzz. That’s the victory that Jesus won for you.

Reaction About President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo last SONA (2009)

This day month of July 27, 2009, Madam President Arroyo will state her last SONA or State Of The Nation Address. How important it is to be hearing by many Pilipino people or even around the world. The last SONA of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and how it will impact the industry, economy, jobs, works, and etc. Many individual believe that Madam PGMA does nothing in her term but some are not, some of them say she is doing great things in our country. The poverty was lessen, the economy of the Philippines growth higher compare to the other president before, she has the knowledge, brave and ability to go in other country for the improvements of the Philippines. My last message is this “Madam Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is doing a Great things and also a very responsible President I ever know”.

At this point you will read some comment about Madam President some are good and bad… (President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo last SONA (2009)

* So don't tell me to analyze the root of poverty in the Philippines because it doesn’t take a genius to analyze it, the root of poverty is the severe corruption of the people who are in position. People who can be paid and put food on the table and feed their families from taking money who does not belong to them. Thieves!You know what I’m thinking? I don’t know how Gloria will answer God on the judgment day. God won’t ask Gloria how many countries she traveled and how many people she took with her during her administration. God would ask Gloria, what did she do to the Filipino people why there were lots of us who starve ourselves to death and others committed suicide because life for them has no way out. I don’t believe her anymore. Only her puppets believe her even if they are not convince its just because they got money by merely acting stupid in showing support to her. I'm so sick!

*· I think aside from giving a grade to the President after her term, we must also look deep within ourselves what have we contributed to make our country better? It's very easy to point our fingers, take note "fingers" to other parson or find fault in what they do. Are we just like "fence-sitters" or a part of everyday corruption in the bureaucracy? I think we must answer this question as honestly as we can.

The Painting of the last SUPPER( story 2)

Story 2:

One of the reasons the painting took fours years to complete was that when da Vinci was almost finished, a friend commented on how incredibly moving the painting was---especially the silver cup on the table. “It was brilliant, beautiful!” he said.” My eyes were immediately drawn to it.” Da Vinci got so angry that he immediately painted over the cup, blotting it out. The focus of the painting was to be Jesus, not the cup. All attention had to be drawn to Him; anything that detracted from Him had to be removed.

The Application:
What is the focus of your life? We need to remove anything that before Christ or hinders us from serving Him. Christ must be the center of our lives…
See Philippians 1:21).

The Painting of the last SUPPER...

Leonardo Da Vinci painted the Fresco “The Last Supper” in a urch in Milan .Two very interesting stories are associated with is painting.

Story 1:

At the Leonardo da Vinci painted “The Last Supper”, he had an enemy who was a fellow painter. Da Vinci had a painted the face of Judas Iscariot at the table with Jesus, he used the face of his enemy so that it would be present for ages as the man who betrayed Jesus. He took delight while painting his picture in knowing that others would actually notice the face of his enemy on Judas.

As he worked on the faces of the disciples, he often tried to paint the face of Jesus, but couldn’t make any progress. Da Vinci felt frustrated and confused. In time he realized what was wrong. His hatred for the other painter was him back from finishing the face of Jesus. Only after making peace with his fellow painter and repainting the face of Judas was he able to paint the face of Jesus and complete his masterpiece.

One of the reasons we may have a hard time accepting the forgiveness of God is that we find it hard to forgive others. That’s why Jesus said “ If you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly father will also forgive you” ( Matt. 6:14,15).

The Application is this….. IF you want your relationship with Jesus to be all that it should be, forgive your enemies and do all you can to demonstrate Christ’s love to them.

Christian Response to Da Vinci Code

There are some indisputable facts in life.

Everyone will die. Republicans and Democrats will never get along. Poverty will always plague humanity. And Americans love movies.
In 2005, adults watched an average of 45 movies. The mean was identical for born again Christians and nominal Christians. And that figure doesn't even include the movie clips that they were shown while the faithful were in church! Currently, two-thirds of all Protestant churches have big-screen projection capabilities. In congregations that use movie clips for teaching purposes, 77% of congregants contend that those visual media are helpful in their spiritual development. Movies have become the benign educator of choice in our media-happy society.
Coming soon to a theater near everyone will be the big screen interpretation of the mega-selling novel, The DaVinci Code. This spellbinding work of fiction has captivated the minds of more than 30 million readers. The forthcoming film, featuring a huge budget and some of the best talent Hollywood has to offer, promises to intrigue audiences while challenging people's perceptions about the Christian faith.
The book makes many claims that are at odds with Christian teachings. Author Dan Brown's engaging conspiracy fantasy has Jesus Christ married to Mary Magdalene and the father of children; the Bible being doctored by church leaders in 325 A.D. in order to control the Roman Empire and oppress women; claims that the idea of Jesus' divinity was fabricated for political reasons; and asserts the Roman Catholic church has conspired for centuries to keep the documentation of such religious scandals a secret.
Many followers of Christ fear that the movie, which will be even more accessible to the public at-large than the book, will distort people's theological perceptions. This fear is well-founded. Americans already possess an unorthodox profile of religious beliefs, indiscriminately blending biblical and cultural views. Among adults who are aligned with a Christian church, 59% do not believe that Satan exists, 42% contend that Jesus Christ committed sins during His earthly tenure, and just 11% believe that the Bible is the source of absolute moral truth. In fact, millions of Americans are confused about the Bible. On the one hand, six out of ten (61%) believe that "every word in the Bible is true and can be trusted." On the other hand, only half as many affirm that the Bible is "totally accurate in all of the principles it teaches." Americans admit that they are more likely to seek theological clarity from friends, family, experiences and even media input than from diving into biblical texts.
So it is in the midst of this environment of confusion that this blockbuster movie will offer attractive heretical propositions. Entering theaters essentially as biblical illiterates, millions of adults are vulnerable to the seductive religious arguments it will propose.
Many Christians recognize that the book is a fictional tale and that its religious principles are not to be taken seriously. Conveying that point to the 80 million adults who consider themselves Christian but who do not crack the Bible may be more difficult than usual. After all, 53% of a national sample of adults who have read The DaVinci Code from cover to cover stated that the book had been helpful in their "personal spiritual growth and understanding."
How might Christians who accept the Bible's account of the life of Christ react to the release of this movie?

ANGEL

I. Definition and Scripture Terms
. - The word angel is applied in Scripture to an order of supernatural or heavenly beings whose business it is to act as God's messengers to men, and as agents who carry out His will. Both in Hebrew and Greek the word is applied to human messengers (1 Kings 19:2; Luke 7:24); in Hebrew it is used in the singular to denote a Divine messenger, and in the plural for human messengers, although there are exceptions to both usages. It is applied to the prophet Haggai (Hag 1:13), to the priest (Mal 2:7), and to the messenger who is to prepare the way of the Lord (Mal 3:1). Other Hebrew words and phrases applied to angels are bene ha-'elohim (Gen 6:2,4; Job 1:6; 2:1) and bene 'elim (Ps 29:1; 89:6), i.e. sons of the 'elohim or 'elim; this means, according to a common Hebrew usage, members of the class called 'elohim or 'elim, the heavenly powers. It seems doubtful whether the word 'elohim, standing by itself, is ever used to describe angels, although Septuagint so translates it in a few passages. The most notable instance is Ps 8:5; where the Revised Version (British and American) gives, "Thou hast made him but little lower than God," with the English Revised Version, margin reading of "the angels" for "God" (compare Heb 2:7,9); qedhoshim "holy ones" (Ps 89:5,7), a name suggesting the fact that they belong to God; `ir, `irim, "watcher," "watchers" (Dan 4:13,17,23). Other expressions are used to designate angels collectively: codh, "council" (Ps 89:7), where the reference may be to an inner group of exalted angels; `edhah and qahal, "congregation" (Ps 82:1; 89:5); and finally tsabha', tsebha'oth, "host," "hosts," as in the familiar phrase "the God of hosts."

In New Testament the word aggelos, when it refers to a Divine messenger, is frequently accompanied by some phrase which makes this meaning clear, e.g. "the angels of heaven" (Matt 24:36). Angels belong to the "heavenly host" (Luke 2:13). In reference to their nature they are called "spirits" (Heb 1:14). Paul evidently referred to the ordered ranks of supra-mundane beings in a group of words that are found in various combinations, namely, archai, "principalities," exousiai, "powers," thronoi, "thrones," kuriotetes, "dominions," and dunameis, also translated "powers." The first four are apparently used in a good sense in Col 1:16, where it is said that all these beings were created through Christ and unto Him; in most of the other passages in which words from this group occur, they seem to represent evil powers. We are told that our wrestling is against them (Eph 6:12), and that Christ triumphs over the principalities and powers (Col 2:15; compare Rom 8:38; 1 Cor 15:24). In two passages the word archaggelos, "archangel" or chief angel, occurs: "the voice of the archangel" (1 Thess 4:16), and "Michael the archangel" (Jude verse 9).
II. Angels in Old Testament. - Everywhere in the Old Testament the existence of angels is assumed. The creation of angels is referred to in Ps 148:2,5 (compare Col 1:16).
1. Nature, Appearances and Functions: They were present at the creation of the world, and were so filled with wonder and gladness that they "shouted for joy" (Job 38:7). Of their nature we are told nothing. In general they are simply regarded as embodiments of their mission. Though presumably the holiest of created beings, they are charged by God with folly (Job 4:18), and we are told that "he putteth no trust in his holy ones" (Job 15:15). References to the fall of the angels are only found in the obscure and probably corrupt passage Gen 6:1-4, and in the interdependent passages 2 Peter 2:4 and Jude verse 6, which draw their inspiration from the Apocryphal book of Enoch. Demons are mentioned (see DEMONS); and although Satan appears among the sons of God (Job 1:6; 2:1), there is a growing tendency in later writers to attribute to him a malignity that is all his own (see SATAN).
